September 2015

Senior power!  A first in showmanship for Sunny at Durham, and as a special conclusion to our 2015 show season - with his first place in in-hand trail at Tehama District Fair, Sunny has now brought home the blue at least once in every type of class he has entered!  Chance was again 2nd in gelding halter and Halter Gelding Reserve Champion.

August 2015

Congratulations again to Sunny, Siskiyou Golden Fair Champion Pony Stallion, and Frankie and Chance, again Champion and Reserve Pony Geldings, and to Chance for his three firsts in driving!

July 2015

Thumbs up for our senior boys, Sunny was first and Chance second in Stallion & Gelding Halter at Durham; Chance and Chris's second place was extra special since this was Chris's first show!

June 2015

Congratulations, Sunny, Shasta District Fair Champion Pony Stallion, and Frankie & Chance, Champion & Reserve Champion Pony Geldings, respectively.

April Fool's Day 2015

Many happy years and new adventures together wished to Christine and Jack!  That's right, we coincidentally ended up with another black Hackney gelding named Jack, no April Fool's here!  (Pictured with Chris, March 2015)

November 2014

We are excited to announce Chrissy, a 4-year-old Apricot standard, has come to join our family!

New Year's Eve

This little piece of happy posted to the Open Competition Program Facebook group yesterday.   Our boys were the only entries in the division, but were also the only Hackney ponies represented in the OCP this year.  They are such good boys, and great ambassadors for the breed.  Good job, boys, and congratulations to GoGo on back-to-back In-Hand Championships, he sure deserves the recognition!

September 2014

For the third year in a row Joyce & Chance placed first in pleasure driving at Tehama District Fair - way to go!!!  This year there were both more ponies at the Fair and more drivers, with 5 entries in the class.

March 2014

We are so happy one of our senior ponies, Seamair Go West, aka GoGo, age 24, finally won an OCP Championship after being Reserve Champion twice.  While he probably earned enough points in 2009 to be champion, a family situation prevented all of his points from being submitted, so Yowsa, our junior stallion, finished first instead.  GoGo still earned enough points in 2009 to earn his handler the OCP Youth Championship, but in 2013 the spotlight was his alone.  Way to go, GoGo!

October 2013

Joyce and Chance attended their second HDT this month; Chance was well-liked by the judge and several spectators.  Joyce is already looking forward to next year!  Just a reminder, Tri-Counties Driving Club has meetings the 3rd Monday of the month at Round Table Pizza in Anderson, please join us sometime!

September 2013

For the second year in a row, Joyce and Chance swept the driving classes at Tehama District Fair - way to go, guys!

May 2013

It was a sad Memorial Day weekend here at Fireworks Farm.  On Sunday, I found our flock sire dead, ironically just as his last lambs are being born.  Snowballs (aka Snuggles) was a sweetheart and a great producer for us, and will be sorely missed.  He is buried between the house and the field, close to his people and his flock.  Rest in peace, sweet boy.

April 2013

We are tickled pink to see one of our boys going to his first HDT with the local driving club vice president.  Good luck to Joyce and Chance of a Lifetime ("Chance")!  Chance's page is still under construction but can be seen here - "Chance of a Lifetime"

2012 wrap up - WOW!!!

As I reflect back on this year, I can't help thinking-- WOW!  What an awesome year this has been!  As one of our local show managers said, Sunny gets better every time he is out.  Some of the highlights:

-Champion halter stallion

-First place, pleasure driving

-First place showmanship (our first!)

-Series High Point Pony NCAA

-Series High Point SVQHA

He really is the entire package!  We're currently accepting bookings for 2013 breedings - hint hint

Laddie has been diagnosed with cancer; if you'd like to add his good temperament, good looks, and Champion bloodlines to your breeding program, please do so now.  No stud fee, pick of litter only, we would like a puppy of his to keep.  Please click "Dogs"  in the left hand navigation bar for more information.

March 2011

We are excited to announce that Fireworks Sandy's Magic Jack (aka "Rowdy") has started a new life with a junior owner in Oregon!  In addition to bringing a new junior member to the Hackney Society, she plans to show him, and will hopefully be a new addition to the AHHS Open Competition Program as well!

January 2011

We are proud to announce that at 23 years young, Reedann's Sunscreen has won the American Hackney Horse Society Open Competition Program In-Hand CHAMPIONSHIP for 2010!  Way to go, Sunny!

November 2010

We are excited to announce that we will be serving as a layover point during the transportation of Hackney Horse stallion Hilltop Black Parader from his old home in Norco, CA (our old stomping ground!) to his new home in Sheridan, OR, where he will be available at stud to all breeds.

After his owner passed away suddenly, getting this horse a home and preserving his bloodlines for the Hackney breed has been a multi-person, multi-state effort.  Great job, everyone!

April 2010

Breeding season for Reedann's Sunscreen will be suspended beginning April 30th., and will resume May 21st.  April 29th. is the LAST day for regular collection before the interruption; collection on April 30th. in emergency situation only (semen container damanged in shipping, lost, etc.)

Yowsa will still be available for live cover during this time as long as breeding is booked and paid for in full NO LATER THAN April 30th.

The boys are fine, the break in breeding season is due to personal / family issues, and your understanding and patience during this time are appreciated.

Jan. 2009

In addition to Sunny, his son, Johnny Walker Red, has been entered in the 2009 Stallion Service Auction by his owner-breeder, Roger Sims of KY.  As far as we know, this makes us the only stallion owners with an offspring also entered in the auction!  Take a look at "Sunny's offspring" page for some of Johnny Walker Red's pictures and achievements.  Auction info. for Sunny and Johnny can be seen via the link below.  (Don't let the Canadian address throw you off-- the list on was more recently updated than the AHHS site.)
